ITAHARI, Nov 13: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar has claimed that there was no other political party capable of defeating the Nepali Congress in the upcoming elections as the party had already won the people's hearts by its works and activities.

"The entire Nepali people are all aware of the contribution of party to the country's political history and development endeavours and its victory in the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies is certain," he said following the inauguration of the Nepali Congress media centre established in Itahari in view of the elections today.

Terming the leftist alliance or the alliance between the CPN (Maoist Center) and CPN ( UML) unhealthy, he claimed that the NC which had been frequently sacrificing for the protection of democracy and fate and future of the Nepal and Nepali would remain unharmed by such alliance. He took the time to argue that free economic policy and development model adopted by the party was enough to secure people's votes in the twin elections.

There were tremendous efforts undertaken by the party to bring the democratic socialism envisaged by its veteran leader BP Koirala into practice, DPM Gachhadhar who recently moved back to the NC with the unification of his party Nepal Loktantrik Forum said the mid-hill highway was one of the outcomes of such efforts. Gachhadar who was taken as an influential figure within the NC had left the party in 2007 to join the Upendra Yadav-led Madhesi Janadhikar Forum.

He urged media persons to maintain professionalism while disseminating the elections-related news. He assured the Itahari folks that he would do his best to establish Itahari as the capital of Province 1 if they trust the NC-led democratic alliance and made the alliance candidates victorious in the elections.
