MORANG, Feb 23: Nepali Congress (NC) vice president Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar has called on the government to immediately hold talks with the party involved in carrying out violent activities in the country. He referred to agitating Nepal Communist Party (NCP) led by Netra Bikram Chand aka Biplav.

Talking to media persons today at Biratnagar Airport, he said the bullet was not the solution to any problem, asserting that the government should create an environment to hold talks with the Chand-led NCP.

He was of the view of taking lessons from past experiences and incidents referring to the issue. He pledged the NC's support and solidarity to the government in the latter's effort to find a solution to the issue through talks.
He took a time to accuse the two-thirds majority government of failing to perform in favor of the people. That's why people could not feel the change, he said. Stating that political parties including the current opposition had had a great role and contribution to bringing about political transformations in the country, the former minister claimed that only efforts by the government were not sufficient to ensure the successful enforcement of federalism.

In his response to queries raised by media-persons, the NC vice president said the party had already accepted the constitutional guarantee of secularism, and voices for the restoration of the Hindu state were not of its official views. He, however, insisted on the need for amending the constitution to make it all acceptable.  RSS
