HETAUDA, Nov 17: The government-owned Rural Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation Fund Development Board (RWSSFDB- Fund Board) has launched its new project targeting the 14 districts including Hetauda of Makwanpur district that bore the brunt of the April 25 (2015) earthquake. 

Under the project, repairs of quake-damaged drinking water and sanitation infrastructure will be carried out and new structures would be set up in the place of the projects completely destroyed by the disasters, the Board said. 

Under the first phase, the Board plans to work out on 468 drinking water projects in the affected districts. It will work for a total 800 water projects in the 14 quake-hit districts. 

Engineers from the central and eastern regions are deputed in Hetauda for five days to design the water supply project to ensure toilet and drinking water facility in every house, schools, public buildings and local bodies in the affected zone, Board Executive Director Bhupendra Aryal said. 

Besides, a project with the concept of 'one house, one tap, one toilet' has been launched in 74 districts across the country, according to Fund Board Human Resources Division Chief, Tika Adhikari. 

More, the Board is working to declare 400 VDCs under its jurisdiction an open-defecation free and completely sanitized zone within the next two years. RSS
