KATHMANDU, Sept 20: A fugitive suspect allegedly involved in a murder was arrested on Friday for chanting slogans in support of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen) during a concert held in Durbar Marg on the occasion of Constitution Day.

Khadka was arrested by the police while pushing others “as he shouted slogans in support of Balen Shah”. “His actions seemed a bit unusual, and after he started pushing members of the public, we took him into custody. However, it turns out he is a fugitive accused in a murder case,” said Superintendent of Police (SP) Nabraj Adhikari, spokesperson for the District Police Range, Kathmandu.

After supporters of Mayor Balen began pushing attendees at the concert, the police increased their surveillance. Khadka was taken into custody after he started inciting supporters in favor of Mayor Shah and threatening those participating in the concert.

According to the police, he is a fugitive in a case from a year ago that occurred in Durbar Marg. It is understood that he participated in disrupting the concert in support of Mayor Balen while the police were searching for him.

SP Adhikari said, "He is involved in two criminal cases. We are sending him to court today for one of the cases."
