Frontline workers to get booster jabs from today, senior citizens and people with weak immunity from Jan 28

KATHMANDU, Jan 16: The government is administering a booster dose against the coronavirus to the frontline workers from today. 

On Saturday,  the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) announced that the booster dose will be inoculated to the frontline workers from Sunday and to all senior citizens above 60 as well as those completing six months of full-dose vaccine from January 28. 

The ministry has directed the provincial health directorate, province health supply management center, and all 77 health offices for administering the booster dose. 

According to Assistant Spokesperson Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari, the booster dose will be provided to people who have completed six months after inoculation of the full dose, frontline workers and senior citizens above 60 and those having weak immunity power, from January 28. 

‘Those with weak immunity’ refers to patients with active cancer, those who have undergone organ transplants, people living with HIV/AIDS and those having medicines used to weaken the immune power during their course of treatment.
