KATHMANDU, Feb 15: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that only UML is the protector of nationalism.
Addressing the opening session of the 23rd of All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) in Kathmandu on Tuesday, Chairman said that the UML as watchdog of nationalism will not wander anywhere without national interest. "UML does not go anywhere without national interest and pride in order to gain power and maintain power. UML is the defender of nationalism," he said.
Oli said that it was a success to break the previous ruling alliance and form the current alliance. "Even if the five-party power coalition before the election was broken and a new one was succeeded. We cannot be sure yet. There is no situation to be confident," said Oli, "Party friends generally seem to be happy with the new coalition. They should be happy. But if this situation changes, there will be political instability."

Oli also said that many domestic and foreign forces are working to destroy the country. "First of all, if a bandit has to rob a bank, he will hit him. UML is the pillar of this country. It can be attacked first", he said, "We have broken the five-party alliance and formed another government. This is a matter of success."
Oli said that the structure of the current parliament is the factor of instability. No one has a majority in parliament. Neither does our party. Our party UML has seats far below the majority," he said.
Oli pointed to the student leaders claiming for the leadership of ANNFSU to elect the new leadership unanimously and set an example of an advanced type of democracy. Oli's instructive statement was that it is wise to leave the leadership to someone else if the working conditions are unfavorable.
The convention will elect new leadership. We compete. It has different forms. If there is a situation where another friend can work more easily than you in the competition, you should leave him. The competition is accepted from an advanced level. If the condition of another friend is more favorable than him, he should be ready to give up on him," Oli said.
Current Senior Vice President Ram Chandra (RC) Lamichhane, Vice Presidents Jhapendra Khatri, Lokesh Niraula and General Secretary Samik Badal, among others, are vying for the ANNFSU leadership.
