Dang, Nov 1: The Freed Kamlari ID Card distribution district committee has endorsed the name of 82 freed Kalmari received from the central line ministry, the Ministry of Land Reforms.

The meeting of the committee held at Ghorahi on Tuesday approved the names. The meeting was chaired by Acting Chief of the District Land Reforms Office Man Bahadur Kunwar. The Kamlari or bonded girls are from various rural municipalities in the district.

The names had been recommended from the local level government to the Ministry through the district land reforms office. Accordingly, the 82 freed Kamlari will receive their ID cards in a few days, accounts officer Narayan Prasad Pokharel said.

Prior to this, 10 former Kamlari had received their ID card, which makes them entitled to various services provided by the government to rehabilitate them. The Ministry record shows that there are 2,945 Kamlari in Dang. However, the Freed Kamlari Development Forum puts the number at 4,677. The remaining recommendations for ID cards will be made soon, according to ex-Kamlari Urmila Chaudhary. RSS
