KATHMANDU, March 27: The government is going to start a free 'telemedicine' service from April 2 to solve the health problems of Nepali workers who are employed abroad. According to the Foreign Employment Board, through this service, timely advice, suggestions and consultation will be provided to address the health problems faced by workers in foreign lands.

Telemedicine service will start from 10AM on Sunday April 2. Rajan Paudel, spokesperson for the Board, said that the service will be provided during Nepali office hours except on public holidays. Nepali workers can call mobile numbers 9851345701 and 9851345702 through social networks including Viber, WhatsApp or IMO.

If the call is received by the telemedicine medical officer and the sick worker needs specialist services, specialist services will be provided every Sunday and Friday on the recommendation of the medical officer. Spokesperson Paudel informed Republica that Sunday and Friday are public holidays in the destination country, so the service will be provided on those days.

The 'prescription' will be provided online for the workers taking the service. All expenses will be borne by the board. The Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security has approved the Telemedicine Service Operation Procedure, 2079 to target Nepali workers who are employed abroad.
