KATHMANDU, Oct 25: Fourteen people died in road accidents in Kathmandu Valley during the Dashain festival time.
According to the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD), these many people were killed in road accidents from the day of Ghatasthapana on October 10 through Kojagrat Poornima on October 24.
When will it end?
The victims are mostly drivers or pedestrians.
MTPD chief, Senior Superintendent of Police Basanta Panta said most of the accidents were the result of high speed and reckless driving.
“There is very little traffic on the roads during the time of Dashain and many accidents occur during this time as people tend to drive at high speed,” he explained.
The MTPD had launched the ‘traffic rapid squad’ in the Kathmandu Valley for traffic management in the federal capital during the Dashain. Fifty-five motorcycle-borne traffic police personnel were mobilized for the campaign. RSS
