CHITWAN, Feb 10: Fourteen people have been arrested on the charge of poaching the endangered one-horned rhino and selling its horns. Eighteen other people involved in the crime are absconding, the Chitwan National Park (CNP) office said.
The CNP paraded the arrested persons before the media by organising a news conference here on Wednesday. Four rhinos were killed by poachers from mid-July 2020 till mid-January 2021. The CNP administration, the Batukdal Battalion of Nepali Army assigned for park security and the Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police arrested the poachers and those trafficking in rhino horn from different places of the country, CNP's chief conservation officer Ananath Baral said.

Baral said that 18 other people involved in poaching and trading in wildlife parts are absconding. Those arrested in the course of investigation have given information about 18 absconding persons.
