KATHMANDU, April 9: Four youths who protested against Pancha Karna Rai aka 'PK' elected from Khotang constituency 1 who voted in favor of Koshi province have been arrested.
Kirant Rai Yayokkha Khotang President Yugsan Kirant, co-treasurer Darwin Rai, Yayokkha Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Nagar Committee former vice president Saptamani Rai and secretary of Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Khotang Sunil Chamling protested against Rai. Rai was elected to the province assembly (PA) from the CPN-UML. The youths protested against Rai in Diktel for voting in favor of naming Province 1 as Koshi.
During the 7th district meeting of District Coordination Committee Khotang, Kirant Rai Yayokkha President Kirant asked for time from the program organizer and presented his opinion, shouting slogans and showing a black flag. The protesting group even tried to smear black soot on Rai’s face.

Apart from Yayokkha President Kirat, three other people were handcuffed and taken to the district police office. Chairman of Yayokkha, Kirant said that PA members and ministers who voted for naming the province as Koshi had been warned not to enter the district and that they had to protest because they did the opposite.
The protesting group also chanted slogans against Nepali Congress provincial General Secretary and province assembly member Bhupendra Rai elected from Khotang constituency no. 2 (1). CPN (Maoist Center) politburo member and House of Representatives MP Ramkumar Rai 'Pasang' was the chief guest of the program.
Civil society leader Surya Bahadur Rai, JSP provincial committee member Nabin Rai, JSP district chair PK Khambu, Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities District Council Chairman Phurwa Sherpa and youth organization close to NFEIN chairman Dhaniram Nachhung have reached the district police office along with the four arrested people.
Civil society leader Rai said that he will not leave the district police office until the four arrested youths are released. Yayokkha, through a press release on April 3, requested MPs and ministers who voted in the name of Koshi province not to be invited as guests to any event held in the district.
