According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Bikram Thapa, chief of Metropolitan Police Range Lalitpur, a remand will be sought on Friday for prosecuting Unity´s second-tier leaders on charge of fraud as per the Civil Code (Muluki Ain).
Lalitpur Police had lodged a case of fraud against two promoters, Bhim Gurung and Netra Rajbanshi, who were arrested following the government´s initial order to take action against the company. Six other promoters including masterminds Kashiram Gurung and Bishnu Cheetri are still at large.
Meanwhile, Kathmandu Police arrested five Unity activists and handed them over to Lalitpur Police on Thursday. After Lalitpur Police returned them saying they were not worth prosecution, Kathmandu Police decided putting only two of them on trail and leaving three others on date.
