The bodies of Keshar Bahadur Magar, 45, who worked as a laborer, his 40-year old wife Harkamaya and two teenaged daughters -- 10-year-old Ranju and six-year-old Premi --were found at their house in Thumki of Thanagaun. Keshar´s son Netra Bahadur, who was found critically injured, has not yet been taken to hospital. Villagers said they have not taken the injured to the hospital for fear of facing “unnecessary hassles”.[break]
According to locals, the murder might have taken place on Wednesday midnight as the blood of the dead had dried up by the time they reached the crime scene. The locals had reached the crime scene at around 8:00 Thursday morning.
Villagers have little clue as to what might have led to the gruesome murder. “Keshar did not have animosity with anyone. He and his family definitely could not have been killed for money,” said Dal Bahadur Thakuri, a resident of Thanagaun-3, adding,
“There are no eye-witnesses to the incident as Keshar´s house stood aloof from other houses. The nearest house belonging to Bhuvan Singh Bishwokarma is about 500 meters away.” The village is about 18 kilometers west of Gaighat, the district headquarters of Udaypur.
Though the villagers have already informed about the incident to the Area Police Office of Katari, police is yet to reach the incident site.
Some villagers, however, suspect that the murderers might have killed the entire family after raping Keshar Bahadur´s paralyzed wife Harkamaya.
They said that other family members might have been killed as they had witnessed the incident. A local requesting anonymity said, “There could have been no motive for the murder.”
