KATHMANDU, Aug 13: The government has appointed vice chancellors to four major health science academies that had been without leadership for a long time.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister and Chancellor KP Sharma Oli made the appointments based on recommendations from a search committee coordinated by the Minister of Health and Population (MoHP).
PM appoints VCs in 4 health-science academies
According to the source within the PM office, Patan, Pokhara, BP Koirala, and Karnali health science academies have all received new leadership.
The appointments are as follows: Prof. Dr. Buddhi Poudel at Patan Health Science Academy; Dr. Bharat Khatri at Pokhara Health Science Academy; Prof. Dr. Bikram Prasad Shrestha at BP Koirala Health Science Academy, Dharan; and Dr. Pujan Kumar Rokaya at Karnali Health Science Academy.
The government formed the search committee on June 18, led by MoHP Pradeep Poudel, to select suitable candidates for the vice chancellor positions.
The committee included Health and Population Ministry Secretary Dr. Bikash Devkota and National Planning Commission member Dr. RP Bichha. Based on their recommendations, PM Oli finalized the appointments.
