Four energy projects to invest Rs 5.58 billion to produce 33 MW of electricity

KATHMANDU, March 20: The government has recently provided the go-ahead to four projects worth Rs 5.58 billion that are related to energy production.


The records with the Department of Industry (DoI) show these projects have pledged to produce 33 MW of electricity in total. These projects will be providing employment to 72 people.

According to the DoI, Kabeli-II is the largest among these projects. The project, which is to be constructed with an investment of Rs 3.12 billion, plans to produce 15 MW of electricity. It will be constructed in Pathibhara Yangbarak Rural Municipality-6 of Taplejung district.


Similarly, Positive Energy Pvt Ltd will be investing Rs 9.58 million in a 10 MW solar power project to be installed in Vijaynagar Rural Municipality of Kapilvastu district. Among others, Budhi Gandaki Hydropower Company has targeted to construct a 4.6 MW hydropower project in Dharche Rural Municipality-4 of Gorkha district. The company will be investing Rs 939.15 million in the project.


Likewise, Syarpu Power Company has pledged to construct a 3.3 MW  hydropower project in Bafikot Rural Municipality-3 of Rukum district. A total investment worth Rs 561.04 million has been earmarked for the construction of the project.


According to the DoI, it approved 30 energy related projects in the first eight months of the current fiscal year. These projects have pledged to invest Rs 119.69 billion in total.
