The National Assembly forwarded four bills for clause-wise discussion amid obstruction by the main opposition party CPN-UML.
Stack of bills stalled in National Assembly
The main opposition party CPN-UML protested in the National Assembly session on Monday. Amidst the protests of the CPN-UML, the meeting approved the proposal to send the four bills submitted by the government to the Legislation Management Committee for clause-wise discussion.
Despite the main opposition party protesting in the National Assembly, the regular work of the meeting and the work on the agenda did not stop. The UML has been agitating against the Speaker of the House of Representatives as he did not issue the notice of expulsion of 14 UML lawmakers as demanded by the party.
While the CPN-UML lawmakers surround the rostrum in the meetings of the House of Representatives, they protest in the National Assembly meetings by rising from their chairs and chanting slogans.
The next meeting of the National Assembly is scheduled to be held on September 10 at 2PM.
