KATHMANDU, Sept 8: Police have arrested four people on the charges of stealing and eating a two-month pregnant cow in Jhapa district.


The arrested individuals have been identified as Prem Bahadur Bista, Khagendra Dulal, Bidhan Thapa - all bhutanese refugees - who had come to the Beldangi camp in Damak and Gita Shrestha of Damak Municipality-4.

The cow was stolen from the shed of Lachuman Bista of Damak Municipality-2, Jhapa, during the night on September 3.


Krishna Kumar Chand, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), said that four people were arrested during the investigation on the basis of a complaint that the suspects took the cow to an empty plot of land located about 100 meters east of the shed and consumed the meat.


DSP Chand said that an investigation into the incident is underway.
