Four arrested in possession of gold from TIA

KATHMANDU, June 9: Four people were arrested from the Tribhuvan International Airport  (TIA) in possession of gold.

KATHMANDU, June 9: Four people were arrested from the Tribhuvan International Airport  (TIA) in possession of gold. Among those arrested are Saroj Koirala, 31, of Kerabari Rural Municipality-9, Morang; Mohammad Inteyaz Alam, 24, of Kataharia Municipality-6, Rautahat; Mohammad Arman, 21, of Surunga Municipality-5, Saptari; and Ziaudin Miya, 37, of Khadak Municipality-6, Saptari. They were arrested by the police in two separate incidents. 


Police arrested Koirala and Alam with about 25 grams of gold and approximately 69.99 grams of raw gold, which were smuggled by evading customs.

Koirala, who arrived in Nepal via a Qatar Air flight, by evading the customs check, was apprehended from the airport parking area while handing over the contraband to Alam, according to police reports.


Similarly, police arrested Arman and Miya with 50 grams of gold chain. According to police reports, Ziaudin, who arrived in Nepal from Doha via a Qatar Air flight, was apprehended for handing over the gold chain to Arman, who had evaded customs checks.
