KATHMANDU, March 15: Former Vice ChancVice-Chancellorvan University (TU) and Former Director of Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital Prof Dr Govinda Sharma passed away on Wednesday night. He was 75.
Senior surgeon Sharma had been suffering from liver cirrhosis since a long time. He had undergone liver transplantation six years ago.
Two months ago, Sharma had gone to Russia to meet his daughter who works as a doctor in St Petersburg. Sharma passed away at 9 pm on Wednesday according to Nepali time, his niece Shanta Dahal told Republica.
Sharma was appointed TU VC in 2003 and served for four years. Sharma, who studied medicine in Russia, worked at Bir Hospital for eight years while he served at the Institute of Medicine (IOM) for 29 years and three months.
