KATHMANDU, July 10: Former general secretary of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Dr Mukul Dhakal, has called a press conference today regarding the action taken against him by the party and other issues.
Dhakal was suspended as the RSP general secretary, spokesperson and central committee member yesterday as decided by the party’s central committee meeting.
Dhakal has called a press conference in Anamnagar.
RSP seeks explanation from General Secretary Dhakal
After being relieved from party responsibilities, he had said that he had just been suspended from “Party Chairman Rabi Lamichhane's club.”
Following the suspension, Dhakal took to social media and wrote, “I have just been suspended from Rabi Lamichhane's club. The determination to make the country prosperous will not stop in Rabi's party; the bell will keep ringing in the party. I will speak the rest tomorrow.”
RPS has given 35 days to Dhakal to appeal against the decision.
Dhakal has publicly criticized RSP Chairman Rabi Lamichhane, alleging that Lamichhane has unfairly targeted him while avoiding accountability for various party issues, including the cooperative fraud case.
Following that, the party punished him for going against the party's policy and decision.
