Former Queen Mother Ratna Shah hospitalized

KATHMANDU, June 16: Former Queen Mother Ratna Rajya Laxmi Devi Shah has been hospitalized at Thapathali-based Norvic International Hospital on Thursday.

She has been hospitalized after complaints of abdominal pain.

Former King Gyanendra Shah's family members have also reached Norvic Hospital to know about Ratna’s health condition.

Born on 19 August 1928, Shah was Queen consort of Nepal from 1955 to 1972 and Queen Mother from 1972 to 2008 when the royal family were stripped of all titles and privileges.

She is the second wife of King Mahendra of Nepal (1920–1972).
