RAJBIRAJ (Saptari), Oct 19: Former President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has underlined the need of controlling the degradation of the Chure region for the prosperity of Terai-Madhesh.
Speaking at a program in Rajbiraj, Saptari, on Wednesday, the first President of republic Nepal said," It is urgent to intervene in the Chure degradation so as to prevent it from turning into a desert."

He said the water level in the Terai-Madhesh is depleting due to the impacts of change.
On a different note, the former President said it was a historic moment to promulgate the Constitution through the Constituent Assembly, with a guarantee of proportional inclusion. "However, reforms as per the Constitution are still awaited."
The first President expressed his concerns regarding the dowry system prevalent in the Tarai-Madhesh.
On the occasion, a civic felicitation was observed for Khusilal Mandal known as a prominent figure of the democratic movement.
