RATNANAGAR (Chitwan), Feb 20: Former King Gyanendra Shah on Sunday donated Rs 100,000 for the Birat Goraskhya Mahayagya being held in Narayangadh.
The former monarch had arrived in Chitwan to celebrate the birthday of his wife, Komal. He donated the amount to the Mahayagya ritual taking place along the banks of the Narayani river.
Responding to a journalist's question, Shah said, "Hindu country is not a thing to speak, but it must be kept in heart." The locals had welcomed the former king and queen Komal upon their arrival.
The former queen's birthday celebrations were held at Barahi resort in western Chitwan on Saturday, Shah's Personal Secretary, Sagar Timalsena said. The Mahayagya organized by Hindu Omkar volunteers will continue until February 24. RSS
