KATHMANDU, May 10: Former home minister Bal Krishna Khand, who was arrested earlier this morning for his alleged involvement in the fake Bhutanese refugee scam, has been produced before the district court in Kathmandu.
The police are about to take permission from the court to detain Khand for investigation in connection with the scam in which Nepali citizens were taken to the United States in the guise of Bhutanese refugees.
Khand, who was arrested from his residence on Wednesday morning, was taken to the Kathmandu Police Range Teku.
The police issued an urgent arrest warrant and arrested Khand on Wednesday morning. His personal secretary Narendra KC was also arrested today.
