KATHMANDU, August 17: On June 20, there was a robbery at Lal Bahadur Thapa's house in Shankharapur Municipality 9, Khulalata, Kathmandu. A group of armed robbers entered the house at around 1:00 AM. and stole cash, gold and silver jewelry and mobile phones. Thapa told the police that they stole goods worth Rs 2,41,000.

Less than a week after the incident on June 26, another burglary took place in a house in Shankharapur Municipality-9. A group of robbers broke into Sushila Thapa's house and robbed them of cash, gold and mobile phones. Thapa, the house owner, claimed that the robbers took away cash Rs 605,750.

An incident of a similar nature took place at Kavrepalanchok. Robbers entered the house of Salam Singh Lama located in Banepa municipality- 11 around 1:15 am on July 4 and looted property worth Rs 12,49,000. A few days later, there was a robbery at Narayan Basnet's house located in Kirtipur Municipality 6 in Kathmandu. A group of unidentified persons entered the house with sharp weapons around 12:30 in the night and looted property worth Rs 56,65,124.

After the series of robberies started happening like this, the Nepal Police began to investigate with vigilance. All incidents were reported to the police. The Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office started an investigation. The police continued to investigate the possible involvement in the robberies in which some of the people with 'criminal history' of the same nature were also watched by the police.

Based on the same investigation, the police arrested three people on Monday. Superintendent of Police (SP) Krishna Prasad Koirala, who is also a Spokesperson at the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, said that they were arrested on suspicion of their involvement in those robberies based on their 'criminal history' and other evidence. 

According to the police, the arrested persons are Ramsingh Tamang alias Sagar, 38, of Melamchi Municipality-7, Sindhupalchok, Dil Bahadur Singtang, alias Samdhi, 38, of Faparbari- 9, Makwanpur, and Babulal Thing, alias Sushil, 35, a resident of Bakaila -5, Makwanpur.

According to the police, Ramsingh was released from prison after spending 11 years in jail in connection with the human trafficking and transportation case. He served time in jail since 2006 and was released only in 2017. It is mentioned in the police report that Dil Bahadur was also jailed for 10 years in a case related to murder.
