Forest officer, peon caught red-handed with bribe of Rs 200,000

KATHMANDU, Feb 13: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has arrested assistant forest officer Krishna Bahadur Devkota and peon Pramod Kumar Teli of Division Forest Office in Nawalparasi while taking a bribe of Rs 200,000 from the service seekers.

A team of the officials from the Butwal-based CIAA regional office caught red-handed Devkota and Teli from Division Forest Office at Kawasoti municipality-8.

The duo had received the kickback from the service seekers for collecting the wood after the bidding.

In a press release on Thursday, the anti-graft body said the duo were taken into custody for further investigation.
