POKHARA, Jan 1: A massive forest fire has been reported in the lower belt of Mt Machhapuchchhre in Pokhara on Friday.
The smoke of the forest fire has blocked the view of Mt Machhapuchchhre , according to Santa Bahadur Lamichhane, a pilot of Jairo Copter witnessing the forest fire. “The forest fire began four days ago,” he added.
Lamichhane also maintained that the forest fire seems to have occurred in a region of some 10,000 ft above sea level which is soon to reach at an altitude of 12,000 ft.
However, Birendra Gurung, the ward chairperson of Machhapuchchhre Rural Municipality-1, informed Republica that the rural municipality has not received any information regarding the forest fire.
