Taplejung, Dec 26: A forest fire in the Pathivara Temple area of Taplejung district has gone out of control.


The forest fire in a community forest is spreading toward the temple area. Pathivara Temple is one of the famous hindu shrines in the country. The forest fire has posed a threat to the existence of the temple, according to Rajendra Mahat, an employee at the Pathivara Temple.

“The forest fire some three kilometers below the temple area has gone out of human control and is heading toward the temple,” he said.


According to Raja Maden (Rajen), a member of Pathivara Development Committee, a helicopter is now the only solution to control the fire. “There is also a problem of sufficient water in the area,” he said.


According to Jarendra Prasad Chapagain, Chief District Officer of Taplejung, a team of Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force has left for the incident site for control and rescue missions. They are expected to reach the incident site in the next three-four hours.
