GAIGHAT, March 17: Fire is reportedly taking place in various community forests in the Chure jungle in Triyuga municipality of Udayapur. Fire continues to rage the Triveni community forest and the Mothai community forest since the past few days.

A team including representatives from the forest users committee has been mobilized from the district forest office to contain the forest fire. A team of 50 people has fully controlled the forest fire in Sanuwa community forest following a two-day long effort on Saturday, according to assistant forest officer of Udayapur Lal Babu Yadav.

Another team has been working in the Triveni community forest since Saturday morning, with 40 people involved in the task, Yadav said. Heavy winds are posing a threat to human settlements near the forest area in Sanuwa, Jogidaha, Mothai, Motigada and Bhulke of the municipality. The forest fire is suspected to have originated due to people, collecting fodder and firewood or herding cattle, throwing away cigarette butt inside the jungle.
