Football league resumes from Wednesday

KATHMANDU, Oct 9: The martyrs memorial A division league football tournament resumes from Wednesday. The tournament that began on September 29 had been halted for the Bangabandhu Gold Cup held in Bangladesh, where many players involved in the club represented their country. 

The league resumes tomorrow but will again be postponed for a month from October 13 for the upcoming Dashain, Tihar and Chhat festivals, according to A Division League Director Sanjib Mishra. 

Macchindra Club will face Chyasal youth club in the match tomorrow to be held at the ANFA Complex, Satdobato. The first phase of the league will end on Saturday. The second phase will then begin in mid-November. The league is scheduled to run up to 13 phases involving a total of 91 games on a round-robin league system. 

The winner of the tournament will walk home with Rs. 5 million while the second and third will win Rs. 3.5 million and Rs. 2.5 million respectively. The winner of the league also represents Nepal in the AFC Asian Cup football tournament, according to Mishra. 

The A division league is being held after a gap of four years. RSS
