Focus on quality of audits to improve trust: Accountancy experts

KATHMANDU, Feb 1: Leaders of accountancy profession said accountants should work to improve the quality of the audit for enhancing public trust on audit reports issued by them. 


Speaking at a session on ‘Enhancing Quality of the Audit to Meet Expectations of Stakeholders’ during the day long ‘Conference on Accounting Profession and Way Forward’ in Kathmandu on Thursday, they said that chartered accountants should conduct audit of corporate and public enterprises in accordance with auditing standards prescribed by respective bodies.


The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN) hosted the conference on the occasion of its 22nd anniversary.

ICAN is an autonomous body to regulate chartered accountancy in Nepal.


Experts and practitioners presented and commented on technical papers in four sessions organized during the conference. 


Blockchain and Financial Market, Corporate Governance Reporting and Role of Professional Accountants, Experience in Implementation of Nepal Financial Reporting Standards in Nepal were the issues discussed in the conference.


Over 250 participants, including ICAN members, government officials, corporate executives, regulators and chartered accountants, participated in the conference organized with an objective of discussing challenges and latest developments in accountancy profession.


Minister for Finance Yuba Raj Khatiwada also addressed a ceremony organized to mark the 22nd ICAN Day.
