KATHMANDU, Nov 13: Minister for Finance Dr Yubraj Khatiwada has instructed the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) to make necessary arrangements to establish banks at all local levels at the earliest.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of a newly-built central office building of Kamana Sewa Development Bank in the capital on Wednesday, Khatiwada directed the NRB to take necessary steps to provide banking services in 19 local levels who have yet to receive banking services.
“As the country has already adopted federalism, there should not be any kind of dilly-dallying in providing banking facilities to the people of every local level,” added Khatiwada.
Speaking further, he also expressed satisfaction on the rapid growth of the bank and financial institutions throughout the country, especially at the local levels.
Another speaker Deputy Governor of NRB Chintamani Shiwakoti instructed all the banks and financial institutions to strictly follow the instructions of NRB. He also warned of taking stern action against those banks that breach the law.
