KATHMANDU, Sept 6: The Darkhola Hydropower Project II located in Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-2 in Myagdi district has been swept away by the flood. The canal and the powerhouse of the hydropower project, which is capable of producing 42 KW, has been swept away due to the flood that occurred on Sunday night.
According to Inspector Birendra Gurung, Police at the District Police Office in Myagdi, a team of security personnels have been sent to the hydropower. Further information will be released after the team reaches the site, he said.
The hydropower project was constructed with a total budget of Rs 15.2 million some two years ago, according to Thamara Pun, chairman of the rural municipality. The recent flood in the river has deprived over 387 houses of electricity in the region.
