Earlier, the government had decided to give relief money for temporary housing only to those who lost their homes due to the earthquake. However, Monday's meeting of the executive committee approved the procedure of giving Rs 50,000 to those who lost their homes due to floods, landslides and fires to build temporary housing, said Anil Pokharel, the executive head of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).

The 22nd Executive Committee meeting, held on May 3, 2024, had initially approved the Temporary Housing Construction Subsidy Procedure 2081 BS for disaster-affected families. However, this was delayed due to pending approval from the Ministry of Finance.

After receiving approval from the Finance Ministry, the Executive Committee meeting on Monday decided to provide Rs 50,000 in two installments to individuals who lost their homes due to floods, landslides and fire, according to the NDRRMA's Spokesperson, Dr Dijan Bhattarai.
