KATHMANDU, Aug 15: Five rivers, Koshi, Kali Gandaki, Arun, Sunkoshi, Tamor, Saptakoshi have exceeded safety levels, according to Nepal Flood Alert issued by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM). The areas at risk include Modi Beni, Simle, Hampachuwar, Mulghat, Chatara.
Settlements living in low-lying areas have been urged to stay on high alert as water levels could reach dangerous levels by today noon. In turn, the DHM has sent mass SMS to those living the area.

The DHM also sent mass SMS to those living around Bahrabise of Sindhupalchowk district amid fears of possible landslides due to incessant rainfall.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has also deployed police along the Bishnumati, Dhobikhola, Bagmati and other riversides of the Kathmandu valley for potential rescue efforts. The rivers have exceeded safety levels.
