Dinesh Sundas, In-Charge of Nepal Airlines at Sukilumba Airport in Ilam, said that flights started from the airport on Thursday morning as there was an adequate number of passengers.
According to Sundas, six passengers arrived in Ilam from Kathmandu on Thursday's flight, while eight passengers left Ilam for Kathmandu on the return flight.
Nepal Airlines is operating flights with a 27-seater plane to Sukilumba Airport, located in Ilam Municipality-9. NAC stated it will operate regular flights to Sukilumba every Thursday.
Flights were suspended for about three and a half months due to the monsoon. Now that they have resumed, passengers traveling to and from the region will benefit, especially with the upcoming big festivals like Dashain, Tihar, and Chhath, among others.
This service will be convenient for people from the hill districts of eastern Nepal, as well as from neighboring Sikkim and Mirik in India, to travel by air to Kathmandu and back.
