Five arrested in connection with arson at Supreme Court building

The arrested include Raju Pariyar, Kumar Parajuli, Sushil Shrestha and Jyoti Thapa Ghatani. Authorities are also working to identify and bring other perpetrators to justice.

KATHMANDU, Nov 24: Police have arrested five individuals in connection with the arson and vandalism at the Supreme Court (SC) building during the recent Gen Z protests.



The arrested include Raju Pariyar, Kumar Parajuli, Sushil Shrestha and Jyoti Thapa Ghatani. Authorities are also working to identify and bring other perpetrators to justice.

During the protests, 104 cases were filed related to arson, vandalism and criminal unrest at various sites including 22 personal cases, 66 government offices and 16 business/institutional establishments. Police records indicate 49 deaths in Kathmandu during the movement, with seven victims still unidentified.


Authorities reported finding seven charred bodies at Chuchepati’s Bhatbhateni, though DNA samples could not be collected due to the condition of the remains.


So far, 267 people have been arrested in connection with various offenses; 87 were released on personal bail, 113 are in custody, 33 released on surety and 43 sent for trial.
