JUMLA, Feb 8: Kailo Budha of Patarasi Rural Municipality-2 often used to be seen surrounded by his cattle. Soon after waking up, he used to dedicate himself completely to rearing his goats and sheep until the sunset.

He dreamt of expanding his business of animal husbandry and making more money with the addition of each goat or sheep. However, his dream did not last for long as all his cattle turned to ashes following a massive fire on Thursday night. After losing 90 cattle to fire, a devastated Budha said, "My dream of becoming a professional farmer has shattered within minutes."

The fire also killed four goats of Bise Kami whose shed was attached with Budha's shed. After taking them to forest for grazing during the daytime, Budha had tied the cattle to the shed and gone to sleep. The next day when he woke up, he found all his cattle burnt to death in the ground.

With eyes full of tears he said, "Why only poor people have to deal with such losses?"

According to Kanna Bohora, chief of Patarasi-2, the fire started from the house of a local Maylal Kami and engulfed the shed of Budha. Reportedly, there was no one in the house when the fire broke out.

Those cattle were the only source of income for Budha. The fire has gutted property worth Rs 900,000. Locals have urged the government to provide relief to the victim.
