KATHMANDU, Sept 13: Finance Minister Janardan Sharma has directed to install vehicle scanners at major customs points as soon as possible.


At a two-day customs management seminar organized by the Department of Customs, Minister Sharma directed the authorities concerned to expedite the process of installing vehicle scanners.

Once the vehicle scanner is connected, the goods loaded on the vehicles coming through the customs point do not have to be checked 'manually'. He instructed the employees to increase revenue collection by maintaining honesty in classification and evaluation of goods. Finance Secretary Madhu Kumar Marasini urged the customs administration to work on the concept of reform, facilitation and good governance.


Director General of the Customs Department Narayan Prasad Sapkota expressed his commitment to collect revenue as per the target. He directed the heads of the subordinate office and staff to carry out their works by upholding professional ethics and promoting national interest.
