Film Development Board grants permission to cinema halls to screen movies after 11PM

KATHMANDU, Dec 27: The Film Development Board has decided that cinema hall operators who want to screen films after 11PM can do so by making necessary arrangements for peace and security. "It has been decided that the board should be informed if a film is screened at that time," said a statement issued by the board.

KATHMANDU, Dec 27: The Film Development Board has decided that cinema hall operators who want to screen films after 11PM can do so by making necessary arrangements for peace and security. "It has been decided that the board should be informed if a film is screened at that time," said a statement issued by the board.


Previously, there was a provision that films should be screened till 11PM and if screened after that, the approval of the district administration office concerned should be taken and the board should also be informed.

Meanwhile, the board has also changed the rule that the film censor needs to be recommended a week ago. Monday's board meeting decided to take the recommendation four days before the release.


The board meeting presided over by Bhuwan KC decided to be flexible in the censor rules when the Nepal Motion Picture Association started protesting by announcing the program of phased movement.


Chairman Bhuwan KC has also said that the Film Development Board is ready for dialogue, discussion and interaction with related bodies to solve the problems of the film sector. The association had announced protest programs regarding film censors and night shows. In this context, the meeting of the board took an important decision to fulfill the demand of the association.
