KATHMANDU, April 16: Federal Alliance (FA) made up of various pro-ethnic federalism Janajati and Madhesi parties on Sunday has unveiled different protest programs with a view to disrupting the local polls slated for May 14.
According to the press release issued by the FA spokesperson Dr Om Gurung on Sunday, the protest programs will begin from April 18. Mild protest programs will continue until May 9. The FA has planned to impose indefinite general strike from May 10.
“The second constitution amendment bill recently registered at the parliament does not address the 11- point and 26- point demands set forth by Federal Alliance and the United Democratic Madhesi Front. It cannot ensure federalism, national identity, democracy, republic and proportional inclusion. Therefore, Federal Alliance has been reduced to resorting to protest programs with a view to safeguarding the hitherto political achievements and ensuring that those demands are met”, reads the press release.
