Billions at risk of cancer causing UV rays due to unrecoverable ozone depletion

Scientists have now discovered the ozone layer - a substance which absorbs UV radiation from the sun - is failing to recover at lower latitudes where the majority of people live. This could place billions of people at risk of being exposed to increasingly powerful cancer-causing UV rays, especially towards the equator, where sunlight is stronger.

EC ready for tomorrow’s National Assembly election, to use experts for counting votes

The Election Commission has completed all the preparations for the election to the member of National Assembly taking place in all the seven provinces of the country tomorrow. A five-member team from the Bureau of Statistics at the rate of three experts and two administrative assistants for each province have been deputed for counting the votes under the single-transferable electoral system

Clash erupts between police and NSU, 6 injured

Six people including five police personnel sustained injuries on Tuesday after a clash broke out between police and protesters in Prithivi Narayan Campus. One media personnel also injured and 16 students have taken into police custody.

Military called to Winter Olympics after illness outbreak

Nine hundred military personnel have been called in to address a shortfall in security at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang after illness resulted in the quarantine of 1,200 staff. The local organising committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the POCOG, on Tuesday confirmed 41 private security workforce personnel had reported ill, with the symptoms pointing to norovirus.
