Acute shortages of medicines hits Dolpa

Despite shortage of lifesaving medicines since November 2017, authorities are ignorant towards demands from local health posts for such vital drugs. Few months ago, residents of the district had a viral fever outbreak. With hopes of receiving medicines, people walk for hours from their homes, only to go back empty handed.

The humble $8 trainers were worn by insurgents during Nepal's decade-long civil war, when just being seen wearing a pair was enough to wind up in prison accused to being part of the rebel force. Today that stigma is fading as fashion conscious Nepalis, proud to support locally made products, flock to the brand -- Goldstar saw a 30 percent jump in sales in 2017 according to company figures.

Three years gone, three more required

The Narayanghad-Muglin road was to be completed within two years. However, after three years, the road expansion is yet to be completed. Now, contractors have requested another three years to complete the road section.

Cristiano Ronaldo urges support for the Rohingya

Portugese football giant Cristiano Ronaldo has publicly urged the international community to support Rohingya Muslim refugees from Burma (Myanmar). At least 688,000 refugees have fled Burma’s Rakhine State since the Tatmadaw army began “clearing operations” against the militant Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) on Aug 25. The military has since been accused of mass killings, rape and arson against Muslim villages.
