Electronic Cargo Tracking System launched to facilitate transport of Nepal-bound containers from Kolkata port

The Indian government on Friday introduced transhipment procedure using the Electronic Cargo Tracking System; a new procedure facilitating the transport of Nepal bound transit containers from Kolkata/Haldia port. The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs of the Government of India, Launched a modality on a pilot basis on rail route from Kolkata/Haldia to Birgunj via Raxual Land Customs Station and Biratnagar via Bathnaha Railway Station and Jogbani Land Customs Station.

393 incidents of code of conduct violation: Press Council

As many as 393 incidents of violation of journalist code of conduct were occurred in a year, reveals the Press Council Nepal. Among the cases with complaint registration include 67 related to print media and 82 related to electronic media. Likewise, out of other incidents of code violation detected in course of self-regulation, 13 were related to print media while 231 electronic media. 

SAARC Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS meeting on May 2-3

 

More than half million people died of tuberculosis in the SAARC countries in 2017. As many as 380 million people suffered from the disease while only 250 people received treatment. Nearly 70,000 people died of HIV/AIDS in the SAARC countries in 2017, while 2.3 million are suffering from HIV. With this in the background, the SAARC parliamentary meeting is being held in Kathmandu on coming May 2 and 3.

Children with ASD more likely to face maltreatment, study finds

A recent study by Vanderbilt researchers of 11 counties in Middle Tennessee revealed that children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) were nearly 2.5 times more likely than children without ASD to be reported to the Child Abuse Hotline by the age of 8. Using data collected through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (ADDM) Network, 387 children out of the population of 24,306 were identified as having a diagnosis of ASD.
