‘Gaja’ and glamour at Pashupatinath

As Hindus are marking Maha Shivaratri on Tuesday, devotees across the country and from the different parts of the world are gathering in Kathmandu to celebrate the holy festival at Pashupatinath. To mark Maha Shivaratri, hundreds of sadhus and naga babas have gathered here from all across the subcontinent to lounge beside their dhuni (bonfire) on the extensive Pashupatinath premises. They represent various sects and play a major role in the spiritual and social life of South Asia.

UML leaders abstain from attending People’s War Day at Perisdanda

CPN (Maoist Center) has marked the 23rd People’s War Day at the central party headquarters in Perisdanda on Tuesday. Even though Young Communist League (YCL), youth wing of the Maoist Center, decided to invite CPN-UML chairman, finally they cancelled their decision in view of the current political scenario, said a YCL leader.

Nepal-UK ties discussed

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Minister of State for Armed Forces of the United Kingdom, Mark Lancaster, have discussed on the two-centuries-old Nepal-Britain diplomatic relations as well as matters of mutual interest. The meeting took place when the visiting UK Minister of State paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister at his residence in Baluwatar today. PM Deuba is currently handling the Ministry of Foreign Affairs portfolio also.

Breakthrough in Melamchi project likely within 20 days

A breakthrough in the Melamchi water project's tunnel construction has been expected within the next 20 days if things go according to plan. The tunnel construction is the important part of the long-awaited project. Out of the total 27.5 kilometer tunnel under the project, now only 240 meters remains to be dug in nine kilometers from Gyalthum to Sindhu section.

New zealand, Feb 13: England suffered a third Twenty20 defeat in a row as they were beaten by New Zealand in the tri-series which also involves Australia. The Black Caps made 196-5 after being put into bat, with Martin Guptill (65) and Kane Williamson (72) putting on 82.
