Matrimonial crisis affects the indigenous Hayu community

With inter-caste marriage forbidden and marriage within the blood relations a taboo, the indigenous Hayu community residing in different places of Udayapur district are suffering from a matrimonial crisis within the district. While the new generation of this community is gradually practicing inter-caste marriage, their actions hasn't been welcomed by the elderlies who now fear the extinction of the community.   

Mahendranagar High court issues mandamus order to manage stray cattle

The Mahendranagar High Court, Dipayal issued a mandamus order in the name of four municipalities of Kanchanpur district to pay attention towards the management of stray cattle. The order comes after local governments turned a deaf ear to the High Court's interim order of October 2018 and ignored the management of stray cattle.

India proposes to construct Lower Arun Hydro

The Government of India has expressed its interests to construct 400 MW Lower Arun Hydropower Project adopting the same model of 900-MW Arun III project. The Nepali government, however, hasn't rushed to make a call and said that it would wait to see the progress of Arun III at first.  

Immigrants from Nepal, Honduras sue U.S. for ending TPS, allege it was racially motivated

Immigrants from Honduras and Nepal have filed a lawsuit alleging the Trump administration unfairly ended a program that lets them live and work in the United States. The suit — which was filed on behalf of six immigrants and two of their American-born children — also alleges that the department changed how it evaluated conditions in these countries when determining whether immigrants could return there. The lawsuit is the latest in a series of court filings challenging the Trump dministration's decision to end the program for a cluster of countries whose citizens have lived and worked legally in the United States for years.

Delhi hotel fire kills 17

At least 17 people died on Tuesday as a fire tore through a budget hotel in Delhi before dawn, in the latest disaster to raise concerns over fire safety in India. The fire broke out at the Hotel Arpit Palace in a congested part of central Delhi, with images showing it engulfing the entire top floor. The blaze was extinguished in the early hours with the help of at least 25 fire engines, with the top floors being gutted.

Rupandehi defeats Biratnagar by 5 wickets

Rupandehi Challengers has inflicted a five-wicket defeat on Biratnagar Kings at their fourth match of Dhangadhi Premier League held at Fapla Cricket Ground in Dhangadhi on Tuesday.Chasing the target of 94 runs, Rupandehi Challengers achieved it in 13.1 overs losing five wickets.  Puneet Mehara top-scored with 46 runs including two fours and four sixes off 27 balls, Babar Hayat made 17 runs including one four and one six off 23 balls. Similarly, Bhim Sharki contributed 12 runs while the other batsmen could not reach double-digit runs.
