KATHMANDU, Oct 13: President of Federation of Contractor's Association Nepal (FCAN), Rabi Singh, said that they will soon run a training center to train contractors for their capacity building, in association with the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT).

Speaking at Dashain Greetings event on Friday, the newly-elected president of the professional body of the construction industry said that the training will be financed by the money collected from contractors, and will be managed by a Construction Enterprise and Management Implementation Committee for capacity development of the members of the federation.


Lack of capacity and professionalism has long been attributed as one of the major constraints in good governance of the construction industry in the country. Each contractor contributes 0.5 percent of contract amount of each public procurement to the fund managed by the committee, which will be used this is for the development of professionalism of the sector. The committee is now chaired by joint secretary of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Keshav Kumar Sharma.
