BHAKTAPUR, Aug 2: A father has allegedly killed his 17-year-old son by chopping off his head in Bhaktapur on Tuesday night.
Dilliram Chapagain, a resident of Lokanthali, has been accused of killing his son Sagar in his sleep, according to Metropolitan Police Range, Bhaktapur. Chapagain, who is originally from Amardaha, Morang fled the scene after cutting his son's head but was later arrested by the police, informed Rewatiraman Pokhrel, information officer at the police range.
He had reportedly escaped from the window after the incident. However, police managed to track him. The incident occurred at around 11:55 pm, according to police.
When police reached Chapagain's room, his son was lying on a pool of blood with his head separated from the body. Police have kept the accused at Metropolitan Police Circle, Thimi for further investigation.
Chapagain, who is a laborer, often had disputes with his wife who used to tell that their son Sagar was not his legitimate son. Police investigation has revealed that he always told that he did not want to raise someone else's son and that might be the reason he killed Sagar.
