Falling in Love

Falling in Love

What is love? How do I define the term ‘love’? Let me explain.  For me, love is difficult to define because it doesn’t exist as one thing. On one hand, I can feel love for my parents, friends, relatives and my teachers. On top of that, my country. On the other hand, I can feel deep love for someone ‘special’ too. I don’t have exact words to describe her. How she looks? But deep down in my heart, I have a strong feeling for her.

Here is a relevant quote of Helen Keller, “The best and the most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched – they must be felt with the heart.” Being in love is a wonderful experience. Those who are in love know it very well.

Unfortunately, it is painful to say that in the name of true love, we take part in many horrific relationships. Above all, love is one of the most profound emotions we experience as humans. Having said that, we do not have the control over how, when and where we feel this thing called ‘love’. That’s the reason why studies show that 72 per cent of people believe in love at first sight.

Apart from this, a biological anthropologist, Helen Fisher, writes in her book, “As you grow up, you build a conscious (and partly unconscious) list of traits you are looking for in a soul mate. After a while, this vision of an ideal partner crystallizes.” So, we cannot touch love either, but we can feel the sweetness that it pours into everything. Without love we would not be happy.

Most tellingly, love invites us to a much deeper way of sensing things. Most importantly, there is the question of God or ultimate reality – How can we relate to such things in love? Some sections in the society might say that love is blind. But if I am not wrong, then there is more to it. Similarly, people might also say that love is an unconditional feeling. Where there is love there is life.

Indeed, love is beautiful. If it is not beautiful, it is not love at all. Sometimes, you may feel your love for someone. You must then confess the feelings. Before saying goodbye, give your loved ones a warm hug and offer your thanks for making your day special.
Lastly, love is a pure feeling for that someone ‘special’ when it comes to remembering him/her. Let us we should all try to feel it instead of hate each other.
