BAITADI, Sept 11: An extensive school security programme will be put in place in Baitadi to alert the students of schools prone to the risks of natural disasters.
The programme aims to rebuild the school structures vulnerable to the heightened risk in the eventuality of disasters.
The security programme will be launched with UNICEF Nepal's economic support and coordination between District Education Office (DEO) and Nepal Red Cross Society.
The schools in Thalkanda, Talladehi, Bishalpur and Gurukhola VDCs were selected during a meeting headed by District Natural Disaster Rescue Committee Chairman and Chief District Officer (CDO), Kishor Kumar Chaudhary.
The schools with decrepit and outdated buildings will be selected in those villages and natural disaster prevention and security plan will be implemented, CDO Chaudhary said.
The school buildings will be made resistant to earthquakes, flood, landslides and lightning strikes. RSS
